Inspiration
A exhibition of Anna Ancher (1859-1935) paintings introduced a very important Danish female painter to the UK art public. She was from an art loving and liberal family who actually encouraged her to paint which was rare then and she became one f the few renowned female painters of the age. Her family owned a hotel in Skagen, a remote fishing village of Skagen at the northernmost tip of Denmark. The light here attracted a community of artists. But the main inspiration comes from the peninsula tip where the Kattegat Sea meets the Baltic Sea. Because the two seas are different densities an amazing line forms where they meet in open water.

Process
This print was made by mixing carborundum grit into a glue base and painting the medium onto a plexiglass plate. Once it dries the plate in inked, using specialist Intaglio ink, then printed onto damp paper. The high-relief gritty areas emboss the paper and give a lovely textured looking print.
This is a one off print, there are no more.
